Energy Licensing
As the regulator, OfReg issues licences to companies involved in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
Types of licences
Generation licence means a licence which permits a Generator under the Electricity Sector Regulation Act:
(a)to generate electricity for sale to a Transmission and Distribution (T&D) licensee for further transmission and distributions to consumers; and
(b)to construct, reconstruct, replace or modify a generating station or any generating unit therein for the purpose of generating electricity for sale to a T&D licensee.
Transmission & Distribution licence means a licence under the Electricity Sector Regulation Act, which permits the licensee, inter alia, to purchase, transmit and distribute electricity for delivery to consumers for reward, and includes a licence to construct, reconstruct, replace or modify transmission and distribution facilities for those purposes.
